Sister Sites
Other Public Citizen Web sites to monitor the role of money in politics include:
www.citizen.org/congress/campaign/index.cfm. Our money in politics home page. Learn how special interests are dismantling our democracy and what you can do to take it back.
www.WhiteHouseforSale.org – A project that tracked and publicized the few hundred donors who formed the financial backbone of President Bush’s re-election campaign and John Kerry’s presidential bid in 2004. The site also advocates for overhauling the presidential public financing system so that future candidates choose “clean” money over special-interest contributions.
www.StealthPacs.org – A project that chronicled the expenditures of 30 non-profit groups active in elections from 2000-2004. The project showed how groups are able to exploit loose regulations and lax oversight to spend millions of dollars – often from major corporate interests – influencing elections while keeping their donors’ identities secret.
